Sydney City Masjid
Sydney is the largest city in Australia and at its heart lies the central business district the most densely populated area in Australia on any normal working day. However, during the last 10 years, our Muslim brothers and sisters working in Sydney city have been evicted from six different places of worship in the city area. Some of the reasons for this have been:
- The place of worship was at the back of a business store, which gave rise to safety concerns therefore landlords demanded Muslims stop praying on their property.
- The premise being used for worship was scheduled for demolition. Hence, it was leased at an extremely discounted price to the Muslims for temporary use until the building was eventually demolished.
- Upon finding out that their premise was being used as a regular place of worship, property owners ended the lease contract.
- Muslims needing to vacate a premise because neighbors were complaining to property owners it was having negative effects on their business.
